8 Reasons Why You Should Not Study Qigong in China

Category: Date: 30 May 2017 Comments: 0

Should I go to study Qigong in China or find somewhere else to study? We get asked this question all the time so we decided to write an article about it. This will save us having to write the same email repeatedly and it is great information for those who are trying to make the difficult decision.

8 Reasons Why You Should

Reconsider Going To Study Qigong in China

  1. Pollution in China is a major concern. Just look at the cover image of this article.  Public statistics show that over 70% of the water is contaminated with heavy metals. Smog and air pollution are critical issues now. Organic food is almost impossible to find and when it is, it is obscenely expensive. Training Qigong should be in a clean, beautiful environment. White Tiger Qigong is located in the mountains outside of Chiang Mai at Tao Garden which is a beautiful Qigong resort designed by a famous Feng Shui designer for Qigong practice. It is much more beautiful than you can find almost anywhere in China as it has clean air and organic foods.
  2.  Most Qigong schools in China are known to have problems with sanitary standards, use of heavy amounts of oil in the cooking, MSG and worse. The food at White Tiger Qigong’s school is mostly organic and it is much more clean and healthy than in China and free from heavy metals which is a major problem in China.
  3. White Tiger Qigong donates a portion of all proceeds to the Borneo Nature Foundation to protect nature. We don’t know of any Qigong school in China supporting the protection of nature.
  4. Most Qigong schools in China simply teach forms and only give verbal lectures. There is often no book, manual or videos to use as study aids.  White Tiger Qigong offers more than just a training, they offer support unlike most schools which include a presentation during lectures with a manual to match, at home study courses, online courses and books to support your continued training.
  5. Visas to China can be a challenging. Visas are quite easy for most to get for most people in Thailand as opposed to China. Most people can get a visa on arrival for free or for less than $30 for a month while in China it can take days to get an application approved and sometimes even denied. The fee is usually much higher and the process is much more complex.
  6. Many teachers in China lack the English skills to convey and express the deeper teachings leaving the students with many questions, confusion and doubt. Tevia is a native English speaker so he can translate the ancient teachings in a way that any westerner can understand.
  7. Although many Qigong schools in China are cheaper, you get what you pay for. China is not known for it’s student satisfaction. We care about our student’s entire experience with us and are always refining it to give them the most in depth and rewarding experience possible.
  8. White Tiger Qigong is one of the only schools in Asia teaching an integrated approach of fascia, anatomy and ancient Qigong in a complete presentation and professionally designed curriculum.

We are not saying not to study in China, as Tevia Feng has spent extensive time studying there. There are some amazing schools there with amazing teachers, but it is not all cotton candy or peaches and cream. You should consider these 8 reasons before you make your final decision to study Qigong in China.

Read this testimonial by Julie Francotte from Belgium who went to study Qigong in China and then came to study with White Tiger Qigong:

“I have been to China to train Qigong and Kungfu, but Tevia’s training was so much more detailed and thorough explanations that I never got before. I learned more in one day with him than 1 month in China. It was exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely come back to train with Tevia again!”
